The drop-in woven rush seat is rural in style but distinctly modern in comfort. Although utilising a deeply traditional approach, up-to-date techniques have been used, where appropriate, to create a more comfortable chair without compromising the time honoured design.
The Ladderback Armchair has been hand made in England and tastefully antiquated and distressed to give a wonderful aged patina. It looks as if it has enjoyed years of careful waxing. This, along with the rich graining of the ash, ensures that no two Ladderbacks are ever identical.
The chair’s manufacturers, Sitting Firm Ltd, are founder members of the Woodland Heritage, an organisation dedicated to the welfare of Britain’s natural hardwood timber. All their wood comes from responsibly maintained and harvested hardwood forests which are being renewed for the enjoyment of future generations.
Like the original West Midlands chairs, some of which have lasted hundred of years, this is a piece of furniture that is sure to become a treasured family heirloom.
