Elegant and comfortable, this latest version of thetraditional English Windsor chair exudes solid, oldfashioned craftsmanship. There is no MDF or plywood here, just carefully selected and seasoned solid ash the most versatile and attractively grained English wood. This piece features a stickback with a decorative middle slat and double bows made from steam-bent ash, whilst the one-piece seat is shaped from a 2 thick slab of the same wood. The seat locks the various components together in a time honoured construction method. Although deeply traditional, modern techniques have been used where appropriate: the carefully shaped seat is far more comfortable than on an old-fashioned Windsor and the design gives maximum back support combined with a relaxed posture.The Georgian Double Bow has been hand made in England by English craftsmen and tastefully antiquated and distressed to give a wonderful aged patina. This, along with the rich graining of the ash, ensures that no two Windsor chairs are ever identical.The chairs manufacturers, Sitting Firm Ltd, arefounder members of the Woodland Heritage, anorganisation dedicated to the welfare of Britain'snatural hardwood timber.
