There is no MDF or plywood here, just carefully selected and seasoned ash the most versatile and attractively grained English wood. Run your finger along the finely-shaped back slats, the arms or the carefully turned legs and struts and you’ll appreciate a rare level of woodworking. The drop-in woven rush seat is rural in style but distinctly modern in comfort. Although utilising a deeply traditional approach, up-to-date techniques have been used, where appropriate, to create a more comfortable chair without compromising the time honoured design. The Ladderback Armchair has been hand made in England and tastefully antiquated and distressed to give a wonderful aged patina. It looks as if it has enjoyed years of careful waxing. This, along with the rich graining of the ash, ensures that no two Ladderbacks are ever identical.The chair’s manufacturers, Sitting Firm Ltd, are founder members of the Woodland Heritage, an organisation dedicated to the welfare ofBritain’s natural hardwood timber.
